Q: What makes Village Candles® a Premium candle?
A: We use only the finest quality materials available
  • Food grade paraffin wax
  • Soy wax from soybeans grown in the USA
  • The highest quality fragrance oils
  • Unique Dual Wick Technology
Q: Why do your jar candles have two wicks?
A: Our jar candles have been engineered using our unique Dual Wick Technology. Some of the benefits of our Dual Wick Technology include:
  • No leftover wax
  • Stronger fragrance diffusion
  • No sooting / blackening of glass
Q: Does Village Candle® use lead wicks?
A: Village Candle® does not use lead wicks in any of our candle products
Q: How can I keep my candles looking their best?
A: When not in use, store your candles in a cool, dry place
Q: Sometimes my jar candles get black, what is the cause and how do I clean it off?
A: This is called "sooting" and can be caused by numerous things
  • Sooting can be caused by poorly sized wicks – Only purchase candles from a reputable manufacturer
  • Sooting can be caused by a draft – For best results, candles should be burned in a draft-free environment
  • Sooting can be caused by a lack of wick trimming – For best results, keep wick trimmed to 1/4"
  • To clean the glass, follow these simple instructions: while candle and glass is cool, use a clean damp cloth and wipe the soot off, taking care to completely dry the area before relighting
Q: Can I refill my jar candle when it is empty?
A: For safety reasons, we do not recommend refilling glass with wax.
Q: How can I remove the metal wick base if I want to use the glass for storage?
A: Cool the glass completely
  • ONLY when candle and glass are completely cool, pour in enough rubbing alcohol to cover the base, and let it sit for a few days
  • The rubbing alcohol should soften the glue and release the base
  • Never pry at the base with your hand or any object
Q: Can you recycle the empty candle jars?
A: We suggest reusing the glass as a storage container in your home, but if you chose not to, most local recycling agencies will accept empty candle jars with other glass recyclables
Q: How can I remove candle wax from Fabric?
A: We strongly suggest following the garment laundering instructions provided by the manufacturer of the fabric. If these sources are not available, please follow the suggestions below
  • Rub a piece of ice over the waxy portion of the garmet
  • Let wax harden completely and chip away as much of the hardened wax as possible
  • Run the fabric under hot water until the wax is gone
  • To remove wax from a large area, rub with ice and then chip away as much of the wax as possible
  • Place a paper towel over the remaining wax
  • Adhering to fabric requirements for ironing, run a hot iron over the paper towel, taking care to adjust the paper towel as it becomes saturated with wax
Q: Which of your candles are the most fragrant?
A: Our jar candles are the most fragrant. More fragrance is emitted from these because of the large wax pool
Q: Why do my votives turn into a puddle of wax, when I put them on a plate to burn?
A: Votives are meant to liquefy fully to the edges. Always burn votives in a snug votive holder, to enjoy full use. Village Candle® votives can burn up to 15 hours when used in a properly-sized votive container.
Did You Know?
"I gave up buying scented candles some years ago because not one candle manufacturer created an aroma beyond the initial sniff one gets by putting one's nose to the unlit candle itself. Last year I picked up one of your candles and prepared myself for another disappointing experience.

After decades of searching, it was amazing to come upon precisely what I had been looking for. There's no describing the variety of beautiful scents (I have bought them regularly since the first superb surprise) that have filled my home. Scarcely anyone visits without making some positive observation about the olfactory esthetics.

I applaud all of you who have helped discover the secret to creating scented candles that do precisely as they're expected... that is, to make an environment smell wonderful!"
