Village Candle® has always been guided by the strength of our relationships with our employees, our customers and our communities and we proudly support three important organizations that make significant contributions to them.
The Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County (CACRC) opened its doors in January of 2000 and at that time they were New Hampshire's first and only operating CAC in the state. To date, they have provided professional services to over 4,800 children and their families at no cost to them or taxpayers. Multiple interviews of a child abuse victim increase trauma and are counterproductive to conducting a solid investigation. The Child Advocacy Center brings together all parties within the investigation to one child friendly, neutral location so one interview can be conducted with all relevant parties represented. Everyone's questions are asked through a trained forensic investigator skilled at interviewing children. The National Children's Alliance reports that in municipalities where a Child Advocacy Center is utilized there is a 40% increase in successful prosecution of child abuse cases. The CAC not only benefits the child, but also the entire community. Statistics reflect that children suffering abuse who do not receive a strong intervention are 67 times more likely to become juvenile offenders. By offering services to 100% of Rockingham County children that are victimized by abuse, that is reported, we are making a difference in our community as a whole every day.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation
When we join together anything is possible…
In the past, Village Candle® raised funds in support of breast cancer awareness and research through the sale of the “Essence of Hope”, Water Lily Blossom fragranced candles and pink ribbon air fresheners. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this product was donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Located in Casco, Maine, Camp Sunshine supports children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The camp has the distinction of being the only one in the nation that addresses the impact of a life-threatening illness on every member of the immediate family – the ill child, the parents, and the siblings. Since its inception, Camp Sunshine has provided a haven for over 16,000 individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. The program is free to participants thanks to the generosity of donors. Village Candle® is honored to be one of them.
